List of facilities that are exempted from reporting to NPRI for toxic chemicals:

Facilities that are used exclusively for:

  • education or training students, such as universities, schools or colleges;
  • research or testing;
  • maintenance and repairing transportation vehicles, such as automobiles, trucks, ships or aircraft except painting and stripping of vehicles or their components or rebuilding or remanufacturing of vehicle components;
  • distribution, storage and retail sale of fuel except as part of terminal operations;
  • wholesale or retail sale of articles or products, if the substance is not released to the environment during normal use of the facility;
  • the retail sale of NPRI chemicals;
  • growing, harvesting or managing renewable resources, such as fisheries, forestry or agriculture, but not the processing or other use of renewable natural resources;
  • mining, but not the further processing or other use of mined materials; and
  • the practice of dentistry.
